Martfű önálló községgé válásának és rohamos fejlődésének elindítója a Cikta cipőgyár volt, mely az érsekújvári, Bata céghez tartozó gyár leányvállalataként jött létre. 1949-es államosítása után Tisza Cipőgyár néven működött tovább. A dolgozók a gyártás megindulásától a fizetés mellé természetbeni juttatásokat is kaptak és fejlett volt a szociális ellátás rendszere. A gyár gondoskodott lakásról ill. munkásszállásról, orvosi ellátásról, óvodát, iskolát nyitott a gyári dolgozók gyerekeinek és akár napi háromszori üzemi étkezést is biztosított.

It was the Cikta shoe factory that launched the rapid development of Martfű and made it become an incorporated town. The factory was an affiliated firm of the Bata company of Érsekújvár. After the nationalization of 1949, the factory kept on operating under the name: Tisza Shoe Factory.

In the photo: factory bread ticket. The factory provided its workers with salary, remuneration in kind and a wide range of social benefits: flat or labour hostel, patient care, kindergarten, day-nursery and school for their children. Even meals were provided three times a day.
