SZINOPSZIS: A leszegényedett molnárt úgy teszi gazdaggá a víz tündére, ha neki adja azt a "lelkes állatot", amiről éppen nem tud. Hát ez a "lelkes állat" éppen a saját gyermekük. Hiába óvják, a víz tündére mégis elrabolja, majd a feleségétől is elszakítja. Egy titokzatos öreganyó segítségével azonban a felesége rátalál, de a víz tündére újból elszakítja őket egymástól. A mese végén azonban újra egymásra találnak - és sok gyermekük születik.
