1. számú "Inter" (munkásszálló) lakói a Művelődési Központ hátsó bejáratánál
Martfű önálló községgé válásának és rohamos fejlődésének elindítója a Cikta cipőgyár volt, mely az érsekújvári, Bata céghez tartozó gyár leányvállalataként jött létre. 1949-es államosítása után Tisza Cipőgyár néven működött tovább. A folyamatos munkaerőigény az ország minden pontjáról vonzotta ide a munkásokat és tanulókat, akik családalapításig a gyár által épített munkásszállásokon laktak, továbbá a gyár gondoskodott étkezésükről, orvosi ellátásukról stb.
It was the Cikta shoe factory that launched the rapid development of Martfű and made it become an incorporated town. The factory was an affiliated firm of the Bata company of Érsekújvár. After the nationalization of 1949, the factory kept on operating under the name: Tisza Shoe Factory.
The continuous demand for labour power attrackted workers and apprentices from all over the county. They lived in labour hostels built by the factory, until they founded families, and the factory provided them with meals and medical care.
