Bauer Sándor, a kép készítője; 1946-ban került az MTI-n belül működő Magyar Film Irodához fotóriporternek, majd 1957-től a Vendéglátás magazin munkatársa volt. Több mint négy évtizedes pályájának hagyatéka mintegy húszezer, nagyrészt negatívban fennmaradt fotó.

1894-ben Somossy Orfeum néven nyílt mulató a Nagymező utca 17. alatt, mely pár év alatt tönkrement.

A picture from the photo collection of photographer Sándor Bauer who was the photo reporter of the Hungarian Film Office (belonged to MTI) as of 1946, and the employee of magazine Vendéglátás as of 1957. His legacy is about 20 thousand photos, mainly in negative.

In 1894, a nightclub called Somossy Orfeum opened at 17 Nagymező Street, which went under in a few years. Later a nightclub operated here under different names: Metropolitan Orpheum, Pavillon Mascotte, Metropolitan Cabaret. Even Josephine Baker danced here in 1928, but that could not save the owners from bankruptcy either. Later, the building complex was divided into several parts, and the Budapest Operetta Theatre was created in one half. The nightclub lived its heyday in the 1930s as Moulin Rouge, primarily with cabaret and revue shows. Alfonzó, the Latabár brothers, Kamill Feleki and Manyi Kiss also performed. After the war, it became Budapest Café, then Budapest Dance Palace, and from the end of the sixties it operated again under the name Moulin Rouge until the change of regime. After almost 100 years, the Budapest Operetta Theatre - its building neighbour - opened the divided part of the building, known as the Moulin Rouge, with its main building. Thus, on 20 April, 2017, the theatre was enriched with a new chamber playground, which was named Kálmán Imre Theatre.
