Bauer Sándor, a kép készítője; 1946-ban került az MTI-n belül működő Magyar Film Irodához fotóriporternek, majd 1957-től a Vendéglátás magazin munkatársa volt. Több mint négy évtizedes pályájának hagyatéka mintegy húszezer, nagyrészt negatívban fennmaradt fotó.

Nem messze a korábbi Rezső térnél, - ma Magyarok Nagyasszonya tér - a józsefvárosi Elnök utcában található honvédségi ruharaktár épületében a harmincas években létesült a katonai ruhagyár. A gyár 1958-ban vette fel a Május 1. nevet. A civil ruhák gyártásától fogva pedig Elegant néven működött. A gyárban egészen 1994-ig folyt a munka. A gyár jogutódja Elegant Design Modelltervező és Gyártás-előkészítő Zrt. néven működik.

Not far from the former Rezső Square - today Magyarok Nagyasszonya Square - the military clothing factory was established in the 1930s in the building of the military clothing depot located in Elnök Street in Józsefváros. The factory received the name 1st of May Clothing Factory in 1958. As of the production of civilian clothes, it operated under the name Elegant. Work in the factory lasted until 1994. The legal successor of the factory is called Elegant Design Model Designer and Production Preparation Ltd.
