Dr. vitéz Vekerdy Sándor Hódmezővásárhelyen született 1926. január 2-án. (Édesapja vitéz Vekerdy Sándor mérnök, édesanyja Miskolczy Irén.) Orvos, szívgyógyász, cserkészvezető. Kimagasló szakmai munkája és az ifjúság neveléséért folytatott önzetlen tevékenysége alapján Csongrád 2012-ben díszpolgárrá választotta.

He was a heart specialist doctor and a scoutmaster. Owing to his outstanding professional work and his altruist activities in educating the young, Csongrád county awarded him honorary citizenship in 2012.
