A Magyar Geológiai Intézményt 1869-ben alapították, alapvető feladata, hogy állandó geológiai felmérést végezzen. Számos ásványi lerakódást fedeztek fel a geológusaink, előkészítették Magyarország geológiai térképét is.
Founded 1869, the Hungarian Geological Institute was entrusted with the fundamental task of undertaking a permanent geological surveying of the country. The discovery of numerous mineral deposits, the preparation of Hungary's geological maps- all these are due to activity of our geologists.
