Az esztergomi Nagyboldogasszony és Szent Adalbert Főszékesegyházat Scitovszky János (1849-1866, bíboros, hercegprímás, esztergomi érsek, a Magyar Tudományos Akadémia igazgatósági tagja) 1856. augusztus 31-én Ferenc József jelenlétében szentelte fel. Liszt Ferenc erre az alkalomra komponálta az „Esztergomi misé”-t. Ez a kör alakú, füllel ellátott emlékérem is a felszentelés emlékére készült. Előlap: Az esztergomi főszékesegyház. Hátlapon felirat magyarul és németül: "EMLÉKÜL / AZ ESZTERGOMI FŐEGYHÁZ / FELSZENTELÉSE ÜNNEPÉRE / AUG.31-ÉN 1856 / ERINNERUNG / AN DIE FEIERLICHE / EINWEIHUNG DES / GROSSEN DOMES ZU GRAN / AM 31-TEN AUGUST / 1856.".
