A kép közepén álló neogót torony a Scott-emlékmű, mögötte a díszes épület a toronnyal a Balmoral-szálló. Leghátul jobbra a hegyen a torony a Nelson-emlékmű. A kép jobb oldalán a vágányok az edinburgh-i vasútállomásra futnak be, a vágányok felett keresztben pedig a Skót Nemzeti Galéria épülete áll.

The neo-Gothic tower in the centre of the picture is the Scott Monument, and behind it the ornate building with the tower is the Balmoral Hotel. At the far right on the hill is the tower of the Nelson Monument. To the right of the picture the tracks run into Edinburgh railway station, and across the tracks is the Scottish National Gallery building.
