A Bakáts tér mindig Belső-Ferencváros központja volt. A ma látható három- és ötmeletes épületek 1900 és 1930 között épültek. A tér középpontjában a neoromán stílusú Assisi Szent Ferenc-templom áll, tervezője Ybl Miklós.

The square has always been the centre of Inner-Ferencváros. The three- and five-storey buildings you see today were built between 1900 and 1930. At the centre of the square is the neo-Romanesque Church of St Francis of Assisi, designed by Miklós Ybl.
