On the picture side of the postcard "Thermal spring at the time of eruption." The event occurred on 6 October 1925. It is a thermal spring water of healing properties from a depth of 1,090 metres, with a temperature of 73 degrees Celsius, with a peculiar odour, a brownish colour, and a composition of iodine and sulphur. The discovery of the spring was made by Ferenc Pávai-Vajna, mining adviser, and Dezső Pekár, geophysicist, who were exploring for natural gas in the area. The potential of the thermal water that emerged alongside the hydrocarbons was soon recognised by the city administration, and as early as 1927, a thermal spring beach was established.
