A levelezőlap képes oldalán a Mercur szálloda (Hotel Mercur) épülete látható, Fogaras főterén (Ferenc József tér). A hotelnek, étteremnek, kávéháznak is otthont adó épület egyben a város társasági központja is volt, az emeletén működött a fogarasi kaszinó. A téren üzemelt egykor a Chiba cukrászda is, amely Babits Mihály kedvenc helye volt a városban. A fotó jobb szélén Franz Rössler boltjának sarka, a háttérben, a szálló mellett jobbra, a térről nyíló Sterzing utca is látszik. A település Nagyszebentől keletre Romániában található, de a képeslap kiadása idején a település még Magyarországhoz tartozott.

The postcard shows the Mercur Hotel in the main square of Fogaras (Ferenc József Square). The building of the hotel, restaurant and café, which was also the social centre of the town, and the upper floor of the building was used as the casino of Fogaras. The square was also once the site of the Chiba confectionery, which was Mihály Babits' favourite place in town. The corner of Franz Rössler's shop is on the far right of the photo, and Sterzing Street, which opens from the square, can be seen in the background, to the right of the hotel. The village is located to the east of Nagyszeben in Romania, but at the time of the publication of the postcard it was still part of Hungary.
