Az egykori Apolló mozi bejárata az egykori Grand Hotel Royalból fényképezve. A plakáton a "Nicsak ki beszél most!" vígjátékot reklámozzák John Travolta és Kristie Alley főszereplésével (Magyarországon 1994 március 17-én mutatták be). A mozi és a Royal története már a kezdetektől egybefonódott. A nyitás évében 1896-ban itt vetítették az első filmeket Pesten, a kávéház különtermében. Olyannyira sikeresnek bizonyult az akkor még példa nélküli vállalkozás, hogy 1915-ben mozivá alakították át a nagytermet. A moziterem a továbbiakban a szállótól elkülönülten működött, először mint Royal Apolló, majd Vörös Csillag végül Apolló néven 1997-es bezárásáig.

The entrance to Apollo cinema, viewed from the former Grand Hotel Royal. The history of the Apollo cinema and the Royal has been intertwined from the very beginning. In 1896, the year of its opening, the first films were shown here in Pest, in the parlour of the café. The unprecedented venture proved so successful that in 1915 the main hall was converted into a cinema. The cinema room was subsequently operated separately from the hotel, first as the Royal Apollo, then as the Red Star, and finally as the Apollo until its closure in 1997.
