Az egykori Royal Nagyszálló utcai frontja látható az egykoron Lenin körútnak nevezett Erzsébet körúton. Az 1896-ban megnyitott szálloda homlokzata az 1950-es évek vége és 1960-as évek eleje között végzett átalakítás után kapta a fotón is látható új arculatát. A rekonstrukció tervezője Janáky István volt. Ekkor került a portál központi részére a bejáratot védő előtető is, a Royal neonfelirattal. A bejárattól jobbra és balra lévő nagyméretű üvegfelületek tették lehetővé, a mögötte lévő, teljesen átalakított előcsarnok természetes megvilágítását.

The street-front of the former Royal Grand Hotel at the beginning of the 1970s. The reconstruction was done by the beginning of the 1960s, on the basis of István Janáky's plans. The canopy above the entrance and the neon sign Royal were put in the middle of the portal. The large glass surfaces to the left and right of the entrance provided the reconstructed lobby with natural lighting.
