Az utóbbi néhány évtizedben soha nem látott módon kitágult a transzcendencia kifejezésének művészi eszköztára. Ennek ellenére a történelmi vallásokban való hit gyakorlatilag kívül esik az intézményes kortárs művészet fő áramának diskurzusán, és ritka a személyesebb formájú, nem feltétlenül egyházakhoz kötődő spiritualitás megjelenítése is. Kiállításunk a kortárs magyar képzőművészet hithez, valláshoz, transzcendenciához kötődő műveiből mutat be jelzésszerű, de remélhetőleg reprezentatív keresztmetszetet.

In the past few decades the artist’s toolbox for expressing transcendence has expanded to a hitherto unparalleled extent. Still, faith in orthodox religions practically falls beyond the discourse of institutionalized mainstream contemporary art and the representation of a more personal spirituality, not necessarily connected to churches, is also rather infrequent. This exhibition provides a sampling of contemporary Hungarian works of art related to belief, religion, and transcendence – a concise yet, hopefully, representative cross section.
