R. Imréné R. Ilona Gyöngyi Baján született és nőtt fel. Szép és nyugodt életébe szólt bele a háború, a férfiakat munkaszolgálatra hívták. 1944. március 19-e után fordulat következett. A sárga csillag viselése, a rádió és ékszer beszolgáltatása többek között, melyekről Ilona is beszámol. 1944. június 5-én rendőrök terelték őket a megyeházához. Innen a vasútállomásra kerültek, majd Bécsújhelyen állt meg velük először a szerelvény. Innen tovább Auschwitz-ba kerültek. Az eltöltött hónapok után Mittelsteinbe vitték át őket, repülőgépalkatrész-gyárba dolgozni. 1945. május 6-án egy Weiswasser nevű kisvárosba kerültek innen, Ilona közben súlyos betegséget szerzett. A felszabadulás után cseh területre kerültek. Olmützön, Trencsénen keresztül jutott Budapestre vissza, 1945. május 26-án. Itt a JOINT-hoz kellett fordulniuk, az életük rendeződni kezdett. Ilona családot alapított, boldogan él.

Mrs. Imre R. (Ms. Ilona Gyöngyi R.) was born in Baja. She had calm and save life, until the start of forced labor, when men drafted. The changing was on the 19th of March in 1944. From here they got to the railway station, and the train stopped in Wiener Neustadt first. From here they got on to Auschwitz. After the months spent there they got to Mittelstein, to an aircraft parts factory. On the 6th of May, they got to Weiswasser, a little town, where Ilona got a very serious illness. After liberation the group got to a Czech area. Through Olomouc and Trentschin she returned to Budapest on the 26th of May. Here they visited the JOINT, their life began to be resolved. Ilona had her own family, and she is living happily.
