1944 októberével, a „fekete októberrel” kezdődik a visszaemlékezés. A csillagos házban rádióból hallgatták az aktuális hadi híreket. A nyilasok a lóversenytérre hajtották az embereket, a házmester egy puskát rejtegetett a házban. Benő és társai hátizsákot csomagoltak, később el is hívták őket a nyilasok gyülekezni, majd fegyveres kísérettel gyalogmenettel indították őket az újpesti futballpályáig. A Tungsram gyárnál női századdal találkoztak. Ismerősökkel került Valkóra. Védelmi vonalat kellett építeniük. Soroksárra kerültek Valkóról. Schutzpass-t sikerült szerezniük, de nem segített, a nyilas széttépte, akinek megmutatták. A svájci követségről újabbat sikerült szerezni, ezzel már átjutottak a katonai záróláncon. Egy Nóra nevű barátjával találkozott, aki segített neki hazajutni, a felszabadulás előtt két hónappal. Édesanyját, és Nóra nagymamáját otthon találták, és Ottó, Benő sógora is megkerült, akivel együtt indultak munkaszolgálatra.

He met with Nóra, a friend, who supported him to return to home before two days of liberation. His mother and grandmother of Nóra were at home, and Ottó, Benő’s brother-in-law, who was with Benő at time of starting of forced labor also was found.
