A keresztrefeszített Krisztus oldalát egy lovas katona, (apokrif iratok szerint Longinus) lándzsájával átdöfi. A kereszt alatt katonák és más emberek láthatók. A képmező alatt felirat: "Fons Vitae scaturit inde. / Lancea perfodit ceu fontem pectus amoris, / Ex latere hoc vitae Sanguis et unda fluit.". A bal alsó sarokban felirat: "C. P. Maj.". A jobb alsó sarokban a készítő jelzete: "M. Engelbrecht exc. A. V.".
